Show your School Pride and Join the Polar Plunge® Cool School Challenge!
Designed exclusively for school teams participating in the Polar Plunge, the Challenge gives students in elementary school through high school the opportunity to participate in a fun group activity while supporting the athletes of Special Olympics Northern California. By registering under the Cool School Challenge category, Cool School Challenge teams have the opportunity to earn money for their own school. Each Cool School Challenge team that raises $2,500 or more will see 15 percent of the money they raised go back to their school. In order to qualify for the donation back, 50 percent of the team must be students, administrators or teachers at that school, and contact Plunge@sonc.org to sign-up for the 15% gift.
Why participate in the Cool School Challenge?
• Instills a sense of pride in the school
• Creates teamwork among the students who participate
• Builds leadership skills
• Enhances student self-esteem through helping others
Why take the Plunge?
Special Olympics provides FREE year round sports training and competition opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. By participating in Special Olympics, athletes gain confidence and self-esteem that carries over into their everyday lives, giving them the opportunity to be contributing members in their local community.
About the Polar Plunge - You only need to raise a minimum of $25 to plunge!
The Polar Plunge is a fun way to support local Special Olympics athletes by jumping or running into icy cold water in the middle of winter. The Plunge is NOT a swim, it’s a party! Our plunge has great incentives. Everyone who raises a minimum of $100 in donations will receive a very cool Polar Plunge long sleeve t-shirt. Participants collect donations online by emailing family and friends for support. Costumes and team themes are encouraged. Awards are presented to top fundraisers, best costumes, and the school team that raises the most will receive a plaque to proudly display at school.
