bike the bridges has a new look!
October 11 - October 24, 2020

Ride for a Reason! Last year, hundreds of riders gathered to ride and raise funds & awareness for Special Olympics Northern California.

This year the Bike the Bridges event has a whole new look! We have decided to explore a new route by adding a unique virtual ride experience. Between October 11 and October 24, there are two ways to participate:

  1. Pick your own route, and ride in your neighborhood, on your favorite bike trail or over a bridge near you, OR

  2. On October 11, the 25 mile and 50K routes will be marked. Ride the course of your choice and start at any time you wish.

Even though we won’t be hosting our traditional event this year, the ride is still an opportunity to come together as a community, raise funds, earn incentives, and ride in the name of Special Olympics athletes.

Rider Registration - $50
Includes: Commemorative t-shirt and a $10 Kinder's BBQ gift card

Rider Registration & Face Mask - $60
Includes: Special Olympics Northern California face mask, a commemorative t-shirt and a $10 Kinder's BBQ gift card.

  1. Decide How You Ride.  Pick your date and route.
  2. Track Your Distance. Join the Bike The Bridges Strava Club to track your route and mileage. You'll be sent the link to join before October 11.
  3. Share Your Why. Post on your social networks WHY you are participating. Is it in honor of someone? Is it to encourage others to live a healthy lifestyle? Is it to show your support for inclusion? Each person’s “why” is powerful - while on your ride, please share a picture, a post or video using the hashtag #TheBridgeRide.
  4. Join Our Community! We encourage you to join our Community Facebook Group for all Bike the Bridges participants and supporters to stay connected and enjoy our virtual experience together!

Show your support by going the extra mile and fundraise! Set a personal fundraising goal when you register, and remember, the more you raise, the more incentives you can earn!  The incentives below are in addition to the commemorative t-shirt and $10 Kinder's BBQ gift card when you register.

new this year - Brew Packs!

About Special Olympics

The finish line may be different this year, but our mission remains the same.  We say it often, but it is resonating loudest now, Special Olympics is more than sports. Special Olympics has launched into action and developed several virtual activities, such as workouts, sports training tips, and health activities.  We have also incorporated virtual sports competitions until we can be together again on the playing field.

While our methods have adapted, our dedication to individuals with intellectual disabilities has only strengthened. With your help, we can expand our reach and continue to provide vital programs and social connections to athletes across Northern California through COVID-19 and beyond.

We are #BetterTogether.
