We hope we can count on you to support our fundraising efforts for Special Olympics. With your help, the funds we raise will enrich the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

John is an enthusiastic year-round Special Olympics athlete. And our whole family supports John, Team Folsom Hills, and Special Olympics of Sacramento/Northern California. It all started with softball as the single sport for John and Coach Dad (Mark). Then, much admired athlete-coach Douglass Hodges invited John to put on some shoes at bowling practice and the rest of the sports fell like dominoes. Now, in his seventeenth season, John and Mark still enjoy softball most, and John also participates in basketball, bocce with mom Kathy volunteering, track and field with Kathy and Mark assisting and sister Meg announcing, and bowling with Masterson X volunteering in the lanes each week. We know how valued Special Olympics is to all athletes, but especially important to adults with intellectual disabilities as the cornerstone of recreation and social lives. Friends, skills, sport, being on the team, leadership—Special Olympics delivers it all.

Over the years we've watched gold-medal winning teammates and coaches go on to compete at USA and World Games. And did we mention, that for all athletes, there is never a fee? Ever?! And how many hours our volunteer team managers Heidi and Paul Matlack and the extended Matlack/Hodges clan have put in to run Team Folsom Hills, offering sports training and competition for more than 120 athletes in our very local community? And let's not forget the hardworking, good-spirited Special Olympics staff, who tackle projects and training and items big and small to ensure full participation. And did we mention how frugal this organization is with your donation? All equipment and resources are used to outfit teams and provide excellent sporting events. So much so, that at regional events, teams are requested to bring back supplies to make sure that there is enough equipment to run the competition, because there's no spare stock remaining in a central office. Will you join us supporting this worthy organization that enriches John's life and the lives of the friends, families, volunteers, and community members who participate?

Every dollar counts and whatever you can give will be very much appreciated. We are always grateful and humbled by your support and encouragement.
